Join us for a guided reflective Sisters Spring Walk & Picnic through the beautiful surroundings of Battersea Park, bringing together reflection, sisterhood, and action.
As we walk, we’ll reflect on the Creation of Allah, reconnect with nature, and stand in solidarity with sisters and families facing poverty, isolation, and trauma right here in the UK.

Walking in Support of Our Sisters
By taking part, you’ll be supporting marginalised Muslim women and families, including:
- Asylum seekers, surviving on as little as £9 a week after fleeing war-torn countries such as Palestine, Syria, Yemen, Sudan and beyond.
- Refugee families rebuilding their lives on the edge of homelessness
- Sisters with loved ones in prison raising their children alone
- Single mothers and widows struggling to provide stability for their children
- Survivors of abuse rebuilding their lives in safety
- Reverts facing isolation and financial hardship
Your participation helps ensure no sister is left to struggle alone.

How can I take part?
Simply sign up on this page. Once registered, your personal fundraising page will be created automatically and added to our event leaderboard. Set your target, share your page, and invite others to support you as you walk for change.
Every step you take and every pound you raise helps provide relief, dignity, and hope to sisters and children in need.
Where is it taking place?
Battersea Park is one of London’s finest parks — a 200-acre Victorian green space along the River Thames, featuring:
- Riverside promenade
- Beautiful lakes and gardens
- Playgrounds and family attractions
- Rich ecological and historic features

Who can take part?
This walk is open to:
- Women of all ages
- Boys under 10 years old
Infants aged 0–3 years in pushchairs or prams can attend for free.
Participants under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.
Places may be limited, so early registration is advised.
How much does it cost to sign up?
- Infants (0–3, in pram/stroller): Free
- Children (4–17): £5
- Adults (18+): £10
Registration fees help cover the lunch provided, essential event costs and logistics.
Is the walk suitable for children?
Yes. The route is gentle and family-friendly, but parents and guardians remain fully responsible for their children throughout the event.
If your child has any medical concerns, please consult a healthcare professional before attending.
How much do I need to fundraise?
We ask all participants to aim for a minimum fundraising target of £100.
This could provide:
- Food and clothing for women and children in poverty
- Assistance with utility and essential bills for those facing hardship
- Shelter and essential furniture and appliances
- Debt relief for urgent priority debts
- Educational and vocational or business development support to empower sisters to be self-sufficient.
Most participants exceed their target with ease through sincere intention, duʿā, and community support.

How fit do I need to be?
The walk is gentle and suitable for all fitness levels. It will take place at a relaxed pace within Battersea Park and will last approximately 2–3 hours, including stops for reflection.
If you have any medical conditions or concerns, please consult your GP before registering.
Will food be provided?
Yes. Lunch will be provided as part of the Sisters Spring Walk & Picnic for all participants over 4 years. Sandwiches will include halal chicken or a vegetarian option which you can select at registration.
We still recommend bringing:
- A water bottle
- Any additional snacks you or your children may need
What should I wear and bring?
- Comfortable walking shoes or trainers
- Modest, weather-appropriate clothing

Parking
There are three pay-and-display car parks within Battersea Park:
- Chelsea Gate
- Rosery Gate
- Albert Bridge Gate
Parking operates Monday–Sunday.
Please note machines do not give change.
Is the route difficult?
No. The route is flat, accessible, and suitable for a steady walk. Risk assessments have been completed, and event stewards will be present throughout to ensure everyone’s safety.
How will I know where to go?
Participants will walk together as a group. The walk will be guided by the Sisters Walk in London team with Embrace volunteers, who will be clearly identifiable and available throughout the event. Full meeting point details will be shared with registered participants closer to the date.
What should I bring on the day?
- Waterproof jacket or umbrella
- A water bottle
- Fully charged mobile phone
- Any personal medication (e.g. asthma pump).
- Picnic and prayer mat (if you wish to pray during the break)
- Picnic and lunch for yourself and family.
Will there be toilets on site?
Yes. There are multiple public toilets within Battersea Park:- Pierpoint Toilets (near Battersea Park Zoo)
- Fountain Toilets (near the fountains)
- Beechmore Toilets (near Sun Gate)
Please note that opening times may vary and facilities may close temporarily without notice.
Will there be a place to pray?
Yes. We will pause for Dhuhr prayer during the walk/picnic break.
Please arrive in a state of wudhu and bring your own prayer mat if you wish.

Of course, you can. If people have given you sponsor money in cash, or made a bank transfer to you, and you want us to add this to your page, simply edit your page and “add an offline donation.” If you need any help doing this just reach out to us.Don’t worry. You will still receive the reward for:
