This Rabi’ al-Awwal, Walk in the Footsteps of the Beloved Revive the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ

We’re in the month of Rabi’ al-Awwal – a month that fills our hearts with love, remembrance, and renewed commitment to the beautiful legacy of our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

No one embodied mercy, justice, and compassion like he ﷺ did. Whether rich or poor, young or old, Arab or non-Arab – he treated everyone with dignity and fairness. He ﷺ was the ultimate role model: a caring father, a devoted husband, a loyal friend, and the best of neighbours.

“Surely, a Messenger has come unto you from among yourselves; grievous to him is that you should fall into trouble; he is ardently desirous of your welfare; and to the believers he is compassionate, merciful.” (Qur’an 9:128)

The Month of New Beginnings

Rabi’ al-Awwal is the third month in the Islamic calendar. Its name means “The First Spring,” and like spring, it brings renewal – of faith and purpose.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ didn’t simply teach Islam – he lived it. He was a walking embodiment of mercy, justice, and compassion. In honouring him, this Rabi’ al-Awwal, let’s move beyond love in words and show it through action – by reviving his most beautiful Sunnah.

Here are six powerful ways you can do that right now by supporting our Back to School Campaign, helping vulnerable children and families living in poverty and traumatised, living here in the UK:

🧒 1. Take Care of the Orphan

“I and the one who looks after an orphan will be like this in Paradise,” and he held his two fingers together. (Bukhari)

he Prophet ﷺ grew up as an orphan. He knew firsthand the pain of loss and the need for love and support. The Prophet ﷺ promised closeness in Paradise to those who care for orphans. Many children in the UK are orphaned. Others grow up akin to them – emotionally and financially neglected while their fathers are imprisoned. Supporting them is not just an act of charity, but you are walking a path that leads to Paradise, shoulder to shoulder with the Prophet ﷺ.

👩‍🦰 2. Support the Widow

“The one who strives to help the widow and the poor is like the one who fights in the way of Allah, or like the one who fasts all day and prays all night.” (Bukhari & Muslim)

Embrace supports sisters who have lost their husbands. We also assist women whose husbands are absent from the family home, due to detention. Mothers are left to raise children alone. They often struggle silently – emotionally, financially, and socially. The Prophet ﷺ didn’t overlook these women; he walked with them, advocated for them, and ensured they were cared for. Supporting such women today is reviving that exact Sunnah the Prophet ﷺ loved and lived by.

🕋 3. Free the Captive and Support Their Families

“Free the captives, feed the hungry, and visit the sick.” (Bukhari)

While we may not have the power to physically free someone, we can still follow this Sunnah by supporting the families left behind. Children whose fathers are imprisoned often suffer silently, with limited access to emotional or educational support, often stigmatised and isolated. Your support can bring hope to children whose fathers are imprisoned, helping them return to school with dignity, confidence, and opportunity.

👶 4. Show Mercy to the Young

“He is not of us who does not show mercy to our young…” (Tirmidhi)

The Prophet ﷺ was incredibly gentle with children – he would play with them, pray while carrying them, and comfort them when they cried. Today, one of the ways of showing mercy to children is to ensure they don’t fall behind, especially when life has already given them a tough start. Your donation ensures that no child is forgotten or left behind.

📖 5. Seek and Support Knowledge

“Whoever travels a path in search of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise.” (Muslim)

Education was a core value of the Prophet’s ﷺ mission. Many children who are growing up in poverty, in single parent households, fleeing from war or abuse, face disruption in school, lack of resources, and emotional instability. By equipping them with school supplies, mentorship, and educational support, you’re helping them walk the path to a brighter future – and Paradise.

💝 6. Give Charity (Sadaqah)

“The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.” (Tirmidhi)

Charity is a recurring theme in the Prophet’s ﷺ life – from feeding the hungry to clothing the poor. He gave without hesitation. Your donation is more than financial aid – it’s a form of mercy, a shade for you in the Hereafter, and hope for those who feel forgotten. When you donate to our Back to School Campaign, you’re not just buying school supplies – you’re giving a child a chance to feel seen, valued, and supported.
