Sponsor me as I take part in the Race to Embrace the vulnerable this Ramadhan!
I've set myself the challenge to raise £200 for forgotten families, living in poverty, trauma and isolation, in modern Britain.
Those in our midst are often the easiest to overlook, whether that's:
- the lonely elderly widower unable to manage his daily needs,
- the broken-hearted child of a prisoner, yearning for his father to fill his empty seat at the iftar table
- a young mother traumatised by domestic violence,
- or the invisible refugee caught between the pain of leaving home and the misery of rejection in the UK.
Right on our doorstep are the most vulnerable in our community, just praying for their moment to exhale.
Muslim families are three times more at risk of deep, long-term poverty as socio-economic factors and structural inequality hit our communities the hardest. At Embrace, we tackle the root causes to urban poverty, focusing on interventions to yield lasting, effective change for those who need it most.
By donating to my page, you can give them room to breathe this Ramadhan:
- Facilitate a family reunion for £40 (family prison visit)
- Relieve the hungry for £250 (food vouchers for a month) or £65 for a week
- Comfort the traumatised for £200 (4 therapy sessions for a month or £50 per session)
- Shelter the vulnerable for £500
- Alleviate those crippled by debt for £1000o urgently need reprieve.
- Inspire the despairing to a new future - £2000
Relieve the strain, release their pain
Zakat and sadaqah eligible.
“Whosoever removes a hardship among the hardships of this world from a believer, Allah will remove a hardship from him on the Day of Judgement. Whoever brings ease to the one who is in difficulty, Allah will bring him ease in this world and in the Hereafter..." (Muslim)
