I cannot express how much a project like Embrace means to families like mine—families who have been directly impacted by the so-called war on terror.

As a mother, I have lived through the fear and trauma of being harassed by security services, falsely accused, and treated like a criminal for simply holding onto my faith. I have had my home raided, my personal belongings and money seized, and my family torn apart by suspicion and injustice. The impact of this doesn’t just disappear—it lingers, affecting our children as they grow up with trust issues, feeling unwanted and unsafe in their own community.
But Embrace is here to change that. It is here to remind us that we are not alone, that we belong, and that we deserve dignity and support. This initiative gives families like mine a space to heal, to find relief, and to rebuild our lives without fear of being shunned or forgotten.
