Ramadhan lifted us spiritually. Shawwal tested our consistency. Now, Dhul Hijjah invites us to reconnect, reflect, and reignite our devotion—all over again.
If you’re feeling a dip in motivation, you’re not alone—but you’re also not without hope. Allah, in His Infinite Mercy, gives us another golden opportunity to refocus: the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah.
These aren’t just any days. The Prophet ﷺ said:
“There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days…” (Bukhari)
That includes even the final ten days of Ramadhan.
Let’s not let these days pass us by.
These are times to increase in our Ibadah, by day and by night:
“When the first ten days would start, Ibn Jubayr would say: “Do not turn off your lights during the nights of the first ten days [of Dhu’l-Hijjah].” (Al-Lataaif)
Here are 10 powerful ways to make the most of the Best Days of the Year – the 10 Days of Dhul Hijjah.

The Prophet ﷺ fasted during the first nine days of Dhul Hijjah. If that’s difficult, at least fast on the 9th—The Day of Arafah.
“It expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year.” (Muslim)
🎯 Make the intention. Set your alarm. Fast. Forgiveness for two years is just one day away.
In these days, every act of giving is multiplied.
At Embrace, we support families impacted by trauma, isolation, and poverty, especially those abandoned in times of crisis. This Dhul Hijjah, the story of Hajar is not just history — her path is trod by countless women today, traversing their own valleys of struggle.
Just as our mother Hajar ran, frantic for relief, there too are Muslim women and children today, desperately seeking the Zamzam to their hardships.

Every donation goes to support families desperately in need on our doorstep —right here in the UK.
“There is nothing dearer to Allah during the days of sacrifice than the sacrificing of animals.” (Tirmidhi)
Choose to give your best Qurbani locally with Embrace. It’s about more than meat—it’s about restoring dignity and bringing joy to struggling families.
Often unseen and largely forgotten, struggling Muslim families in the UK are unable to meet the basic needs of their family and household.
Though donating Qurbani overseas may be the cheaper option, performing Qurbani in the UK, and giving it to the needy who are nearest, is closer to the Sunnah of the Prophet (saw), as agreed to by all four schools in Islam. This greater sacrifice of our wealth ends their struggle this Eid.
“If there are poor people in one’s own country, then it is better to give it to them so as to meet their needs…it is preferable to slaughter it in the country where you are.” (Ibn Jibrin)
Just as our father Ibrahim was ready to give up all that he loved, can we too give the best for those who need it most?
🐄 Perform your Qurbani with Embrace — and give the best for His Sake to the nearest in need.
These blessed days are the perfect time to level up your prayer life. Small, consistent efforts lead to massive rewards:
“Whoever prays twelve rak’at in a day and night, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.” (Muslim)
🏡 Build your home in Jannah—start with two extra rak’at today.
Remembrance of Allah should be part of our daily routine. Now is the perfect time to get into the habit if we haven’t already – whether it’s the morning and evening adhkar or before specific acts in our daily routine.
The days of Dhul Hijjah are marked by the Takbeer at-Tashreeq. Recite:
From Fajr on the 9th to Asr on the 13th, keep your tongue moist with takbeer al-tashreeq after the obligatory prayers.
💬 These words are a ladder to Paradise.
Even a single verse holds immense reward:
“Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah, he will have a reward, and this reward will be multiplied by ten.” (Tirmidhi)
📖 Set a realistic goal: be it a page, a rub’ or a juz a day. Aim high. Read the tafsir. Reflect on the meaning. Think of them as letters from Your Lord. Let the Qur’an soften your heart.
All the days of Dhul Hijjah are precious. Take advantage of the days you are fasting, to increase in du’a – du’a at iftar time; in the last third of the night; in the final hour of Friday. And no day is more powerful for du’a than Arafah.
“The best supplication is the supplication on the Day of Arafah.” (Tirmidhi)
Make a du’a list. Beg Allah for forgiveness, guidance, and blessings—for yourself, your loved ones, and the Ummah. This is your moment.
🕊️ Don’t forget Embrace families in your prayers—those who have no one else praying for them.
“Whoever travels a path in search of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise.” (Muslim)
Only those who know Allah, can love Him and fear Him. Read a chapter a day of a book of your choice, tune into an online halaqah, or attend a circle at your local mosque. This Dhul Hijjah, increase in Islamic learning—but also tune into real-life inspiration. It’s not only good deeds that are increased in Dhul Hijjah – our sins are magnified too in the sacred months.
“So do not wrong yourselves therein.” (Qur’an 9:36)
Leave behind what Allah dislikes. Replace it with deeds He loves. Each sin left behind is a door to reward.
Don’t wait for next year to break a habit. Don’t wait for Hajj to purify your soul. Dhul Hijjah is your chance to start anew.
“Whoever was unable to slaughter his sacrificial offering at Mina; then let him slaughter his desire right here.” (Ibn Rajab)
Kindness. Patience. Generosity. Helping your neighbour. Smiling. Calling your mum. Don’t underestimate the small things.
“The most beloved deeds to Allah are those done regularly—even if small.” (Ibn Majah)
